Gary Lieberman


Founding Member and CEO

Mr. Lieberman has over 35 years of experience in the derivatives markets with a focus on Mortgage and Asset-Backed Securities. Prior to founding West Side in 1997, he was a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns & Co. and President of Bear Stearns Investment Advisors. Prior to that, Mr. Lieberman was CEO of L.F. Rothschild Holdings and Manager of the Mortgage-Backed Security Department and the Asset-Backed Finance Group at Merrill Lynch. He started his career in Institutional Sales at Salomon Brothers, Inc.

Mr. Lieberman is the managing member, majority shareholder, and a control person of Alcar LLC, a bank holding company that owns and operates Darien Rowayton Bank, a retail bank based in Connecticut. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for both Alcar LLC and Darien Rowayton Bank. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Riverdale Country School and the Board of Directors for the non-profit organizations, Urban Dove, the Leif Nissen Foundation and the Evans Team Foundation.

Mr. Lieberman received a B.A. from Emory University and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Andy Ball

Portfolio Manager - Agency MBS and Student Loans

Mr. Ball joined West Side in July 2009 as a Portfolio Manager for the Agency MBS portfolios. In addition, he currently co-manages West Side’s student loan investments.  Prior to joining West Side he was a mortgage derivative trader for the UBS CMO desk. Mr. Ball traded Trust and Structured IO/PO as well as Agency and Non-Agency mortgage derivative products. In 2009, he co-ran the mortgage derivative portfolio and oversaw the exit/liquidation of UBS’s mortgage derivative business. Mr. Ball was responsible for co-managing over $1 billion of Agency mortgage derivatives during this period. He built his career with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis first as a financial engineer for the mortgage portfolio at Freddie Mac and later building and implementing prepayment models at Wells Fargo Mortgage. He moved to UBS as the head prepayment strategist, writing prepayment commentary for the Mortgage Strategist and overseeing UBS’s prepayment modeling operations. Mr. Ball was twice ranked the #2 prepayment strategist by Institutional Investor magazine based on a peer-to-peer survey among buy-side analysts.

Mr. Ball received a B.A. in Economics from The College of William and Mary.

Vlad Kotlyarsky

Portfolio Manager - Agency MBS and Student Loans

Mr. Kotlyarsky joined West Side in July 2009 as a Portfolio Manager for the Agency MBS portfolios. In addition, he currently co-manages West Side’s student loan investments. Prior to West Side, he co-managed the mortgage derivative portfolio for the UBS Proprietary trading desk. Mr. Kotlyarsky was responsible for overseeing $400 million in capital. He then migrated to the UBS CMO desk to trade Agency mortgage derivatives. He co-managed the successful liquidation of $1 billion in Agency mortgage securities when UBS decided to exit the business. Mr. Kotlyarsky developed his mortgage business acumen at J.P. Morgan Securities where he began his career as a desk analyst and gained expertise in deal modeling and CMO structuring. He subsequently assumed a seat as a market maker where he traded Agency Mortgage-Backed Securities and structured products.

Mr. Kotlyarsky received a B.S. in Finance and Marketing from Lehigh University.

Jen Pariseau

Portfolio Manager - CMBS and Student Loans

Ms. Pariseau re-joined West Side in June 2012 as a Portfolio Strategist for the CMBS portfolios. In addition, she currently co-manages West Side’s student loan investments.  Prior to West Side, she was a Director of Fixed Income Sales for BTIG, a global broker dealer, focusing on structured products. Ms. Pariseau previously was a portfolio manager for Huxley Capital Management where she was in charge of a $500 million ABS TALF portfolio. She began her career as an Assistant Portfolio Manager with West Side in 1997 through 2008.

Ms. Pariseau received a B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College.

Erin Rewalt

Special Projects, Marketing and Investor Relations

Ms. Rewalt joined West Side in August 2013 to manage special projects for the CEO. In addition, she runs Marketing and Investor Relations for the Firm. Previously, she spent over five years at GE Capital, where she ran strategic projects for Commercial Equipment Finance, Consumer Finance, and Commercial Real Estate.  She spent 3 years at GE Real Estate in the M&A group and as Associate Director on the Joint Venture Equity Acquisitions team. She completed the two-year GE Experienced Commercial Leadership Program and is Six Sigma Black Belt certified. Ms. Rewalt co-founded and serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit organization Find The Courage.

Ms. Rewalt received a B.A. in Government from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
